1. Information for Parents 

Dear Parent/Guardian of student posted to Commonwealth Sec, 

Congratulations on your child’s successful posting to Commonwealth Secondary School. Please note that your child need not physically report to the school on 23 Dec 2020 to confirm their posting. The school will instead be using Parents Gateway (PG) to communicate with parents from the afternoon of 22 Dec 2020 (Sec 1 posting results release date)   

 For parents who do not use PG, the school will reach out to them via email or SMS.

2. Purchase of School Uniform and Textbooks

Purchase of school uniform and textbooks can be done conveniently via online. You will need to create an account in our vendor’s website if you are not an existing user.

Information related to wearing of school uniform in Commonwealth Secondary School:


Full school uniform (shirt/blouse with shorts/skirt) Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 
Smart casual attire (blue polo t-shirt with school shorts/skirt)Tuesday and Friday


Recommended number of school uniform to purchase: 
 Full school uniform – 2 sets with 1 tie 
 PE Attire – 2 sets 
 Blue collared Polo t-shirt – 1

3. Reporting Details on 1st Day of School in 2021

Students have to be in the school by 7.25am in full school uniform. They will proceed to the Champions’ Hall directly. Our student councillors will guide your child. Due to safe management measures, parents/guardians will not be allowed into the school premise, except for car or motorbike drop off at the foyer. Students will be attending a 3-day orientation day camp from Monday 4 Jan to Wed 6 Jan 2020. Please refer to the orientation programme for more details.         

4. Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PDLP)

To promote active learning and greater personalisation of students’ schooling experience, all students will bring their own personal learning devices (PLDs) to school. Click here for more information on technical specifications of PLD (eg: Windows laptop/tablet with stylus input) and funding (eg Edusave Pupil Fund and subsidies).

5. Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) Induction Programme

To enable our Sec 1 students to make an informed CCA choice, they will go through the CCA induction programme. Please refer to the CCA Induction Programme for more details.

6. Eligibility to Take Subject(s) at a Higher Stream - only applicable to students who are offered this scheme by MOE 

The school will communicate with parents separately on the acceptance of offer via PG/ email/ SMS from the afternoon of 22 Dec 2020 (Sec 1 posting results release date). 7. Eligibility for Higher Mother Tongue (HMT) – only applicable to students who are offered this option by MOE.

8. Application for 3rd Language 

The school will inform parents on the outcome of the students’ application via PG/ email/ SMS from the afternoon of 22 Dec 2020. If you need clarification, please contact the teacher-in-charge, Ms Ong Yi Min via ong_yi_min@schools.gov.sg

9. Financial Assistance Schemes (FAS) 

MOE FAS
Singapore Citizens in financial need can get assistance from MOE on school fees and other expenses. Please refer to http://www.moe.gov.sg/initiatives/financial-assistance for more information and to download the application form. The application for MOE FAS must be submitted to the school in person by Monday 28 Dec 2020.

School Based
Singapore Citizen students whose household per capital income (PCI) are higher than $690  but less than or equal to $1000 ($690 < PCI ≤ $1,000) will be considered for the school-based FAS. Students may use the MOE FAS application form to apply.

Students who are approved under the MOE or school based FAS need not purchase their school uniforms and textbooks online. The school will get in touch with them on the collection of these items.

10. Locker Rental 

Lockers are available to students by yearly rental, on a first come first serve basis. Please refer to this information leaflet on the application procedure. 

11. Transfer Procedures 

Students posted into Commonwealth Secondary (CWSS) but wish to transfer out to other schools 
For students who request for school transfer due to serious medical reasons and/or severe physical impairments, parents are to submit your child’s appeal to us in person on 23 Dec 2020, from 8.30 a.m. to 12 noon.  Please bring along an official letter from a certified doctor and/or assessment from qualified medical professional. 

Students posted to other schools but wish to transfer into Commonwealth Secondary (CWSS)
For non-medical appeals into CWSS, please note that students are required to meet the course’s cut-off point before they can be considered for transfer. Please submit the appeal form https://go.gov.sg/s1-2021-posting-appeal-form-apply-to-transfer-to-commonwealth-sec to us by Monday 28 Dec 2020, 12 noon.
